Technology resources for COVID-19

Updated on July 20: Listed are some of the technological resources available to medical practices, allied health practices, pharmacies, hospitals, aged and community care during the coronavirus outbreak.

Visitor management and screening solution

Customer Feedback Systems (CFS) has deployed its visitor management and Covid-19 screening service to a number of hospitals, aged care and health services since the pandemic began, allowing visitors and staff to be quickly screened and checked in with an electronic record of each visit available for follow up and reporting.

A CFS spokesperson said many health services still only have a paper system available to capture screening checks.

“The chances of making mistakes, not following protocols, not being able to quickly track visit histories if there is an outbreak, much less the administration time wastage, are huge,” the spokesperson said. “The CFS system is an easy to initiate solution that will reduce the serious risk of infection transmission within a health service.”

The web-based system can be deployed on any number of mobile devices for a single monthly fee. Screening questions, exception logic, alerts with dashboard and email reporting have all been established so the system can be deployed almost immediately.

The service also includes a rapid question update service so mandated alterations can be immediately distributed.

Medipass telehealth claims

Card payment technology provider Medipass updated its platform to support COVID-19 MBS item codes, updates to item codes that can now be used in a telehealth consult, as well as existing telehealth MBS item codes in April. It has now made all telehealth claims, whether through Medicare, the Department of Veterans Affairs or private health insurance, free of charge until September 30.

Medipass allows practices to process a payment simply and quickly in a telehealth situation or take a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card payment over the phone without needing to use a terminal. The system has supported telehealth since last year but has seen a surge in activity since the crisis.

It is integrated with allied health practice management software systems Cliniko and Nookal, along with telehealth service Doctors on Demand and there are plans to integrate with Coviu.

It is also now live with online appointment booking service MyHealth1st as part of its new telehealth solution and with Owner Health, an online booking service for home and mobile physiotherapy consultations.

Will you keep this page updated so we can bookmark it and check back as more resources are added?

Yes, we'll be updating it every day. We plan to add in some resources for aged and community care soon as well, particularly for remote monitoring for people at home.
