Pulse+IT Poll: July 11 - Leading the My Health Record charge
Launched as the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) in July 2012, this month marks the system's fourth birthday. With ePIP measures recently introduced in an effort to boost the utilisation and relevance of the system, and opt-out trials adding an additional 971,000 records, over 3.8 million individuals now have an entry in the government-held My Health Record system.
But are Pulse+IT readers amongst them? In this week's poll, we asked:
Do you have a My Health Record (PCEHR)?
The results as at COB on Monday, July 18 were as follows:
Edition | Yes | No, but I plan to | No, not on your life | Total |
---|---|---|---|---|
Monday | 25 (53%) | 4 (9%) | 18 (38%) | 47 |
Tuesday | 52 (63%) | 13 (16%) | 17 (21%) | 82 |
Wednesday | 52 (66%) | 8 (10%) | 19 (24%) | 79 |
Thursday | 36 (60%) | 17 (28%) | 7 (12%) | 60 |
Friday | 47 (60%) | 12 (15%) | 20 (25%) | 79 |
Total | 212 (61%) | 54 (16%) | 81 (23%) | 347 |
Counting 347 responses across the five days, this week's Pulse+IT poll received a strong response.
With 212 readers stating they do have a My Health Record (61 per cent), Pulse+IT readers appear to be far more interested in the system than the typical Australian, with only 16 per cent of people in the broader community having a record at this time despite the recent bulk creation of nearly one million records.
Across the five days, the 'Yes' response attracted fairly consistent results with the exception of Monday, where 38 per cent of that edition's mostly GP readership selected the 'No, not on your life' choice.
By the end of the week, 23 per cent of the people who responded to the poll appear strongly opposed to having their own record on the system, with 16 per cent interested in having an account, but as yet not having taken the leap.
This week's Pulse+IT Poll question is: Do you think the reappointment of Sussan Ley as Health Minister is good for eHealth?
