DCA acquires ArgusConnect
Database Consultants Australia (DCA) has entered into an agreement to acquire ArgusConnect, the developer of the Argus suite of secure messaging solutions.
The acquisition was announced prior to the formal process taking place in response to market speculation in early May, with the acquisition being completed in early July.
Ross Davey, ArgusConnect’s CEO has been retained to head up the Argus software business within DCA, with the combined entity indicating it is committed to continuing the existing business operation along previous lines. Specifically, the business unit will remain head quartered in Ballarat, with all existing ArgusConnect staff offered re-employment by DCA. Two additional support staff have been added to the ArgusConnect ranks since the acquisition, and the DCA technical support desk has had its duties expanded to act as overflow capacity for times when the ArgusConnect support desk is unable to respond to customer enquiries.
In a statement, Mr Davey said, “The synergies between the businesses will bring real benefits to our valued customers and we look forward to demonstrating our commitment to the industry over the coming months. I am certain that this is good news for all Argus users as the benefits of a more substantial organisation such as DCA will provide a solid footing for the Argus initiative into the future.”
Mr Davey has also indicated that DCA will assist with the implementation of the Secure Message Delivery (SMD) technical specification into a future iteration of the Argus software suite, the parent company having already undertaken work with the specification for its “The Care Manager” community care software. It is understood that DCA intends to demonstrate their SMD functionality at the forthcoming IHE Australia Showcase, which will feature at HISA’s HIC2010 conference, to be held in late August in Melbourne.
