Connectathon connects with the PCEHR

Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), the international not-for-profit standards organisation, is holding its annual Connectathon in Melbourne in July.

IHE is calling for expressions of interest from IT vendors and PCEHR Wave sites to take part in the Connectathon, which will focus on connecting to the PCHER.

IHE event manager Bernie Crowe said the PCEHR architecture and standards are built on XDS.b, or cross enterprise document sharing, IHE's international profile for health record sharing.

“IHE Australia invites local vendors who wish to participate in the PCEHR or other regional information exchanges to attend our next Connectathon,” Mr Crowe said.

“As with the Secure Messaging Delivery profile, IHE will be running a masterclass in association with the Connectathon to support vendors who are just starting or are a work in progress.”

He said vendors would be able to develop and workshop standards-compliant implementations and then test them in real world scenarios with other vendors and official IHE testing sites.

“Participation in the Connectathon will help vendors implement links to the PCEHR, which can also be used for IHE-compliant PCEHR conformant repositories,” he said.

The Connectathon will be held from July 16 to 20 at the Jasper Hotel, Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. For more information, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
