Health Informatics postgraduate student gathering
The inaugural 'Health Informatics postgraduate student gathering' will be held this evening during the HIC2012 Networking Reception, providing Health Informatics students, colleagues and mentors with an opportunity to network in a social setting.
Short speeches will be given by Prof. Anthony Maeder, Dr. Louise Schaper and Prof. Enrico Coiera, with the gathering to commence at 6.15pm.
This initiative is supported by a Centre for Research Excellence (CRE) in eHealth, which was established earlier this year following a successful bid by UNSW, Bond and Flinders University for funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). It aims to support the design, evaluation and translation of critical eHealth interventions and to contribute to national policy, focusing on eHealth safety, consumer eHealth technologies, and next generation evidence-based decision-support systems.
The CRE is offering a doctoral education program to health informatics PhD students in Australia and New Zealand, with online workshops being held every fortnight with a live video stream and online access to materials. An annual gathering of students -- such as the one to be hosted this evening -- will also be held.
The organisers have requested that RSVPs be provided to Angus Liu, with invites available on request for people not otherwise attending the HIC2012 event: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
