ACT launches consumer eHealth portal

The ACT has launched a pilot scheme to provide Canberra residents with a portal to access their health information online, which will be integrated with the PCEHR.

The My eHealth system has been designed using Orion Health's consumer portal technology and will allow users to view and update their personal demographic information, view and print future and past appointments and visits at Canberra Hospital and community based services, and to access and print Canberra Hospital inpatient discharge summaries.

The initial launch of My eHealth includes a pilot group of consumers from the Health Care Consumers Association and a group of 40 chronic care patients. The pilot group will allow the project team to fine-tune the online service before making it available more broadly.

My eHealth has been designed to complement the national PCEHR and it is intended to integrate with the national eHealth system.

ACT Chief Minister and Minister for Health Katy Gallagher said in a statement that My eHealth is a secure, online service which will help users keep track of their appointments.

"It gives patients more control over their health records and makes using health services more convenient,” she said.

The ACT Health Directorate signed a contract with Orion Health in January this year to design and implement the consumer portal.

More functions will be added to My eHealth over time and the website will be rolled out to Canberra Hospital & Health Services consumers and clinicians over the next 12 months.
