In-built dementia assessment tool for GPs

Best Practice has added a built-in dementia assessment tool as part of the latest update to its clinical and practice management software.

The tool has been designed to assist in the measurement, recording and reporting of patient information relating to dementia risk through a risk assessment prompt.

It includes information for daily living, dementia risk factors, advanced care planning and referral information, and links to patient education materials.

The tool was developed with the assistance of Henry Brodaty and Allan Shell of the Dementia Collaborative Research Centre at the University of NSW, with funding support from the Alzheimer’s Australia National Quality Dementia Care Initiative (NQDCI).

The NQDCI is a consumer-driven program aimed at translating existing research findings into better dementia care across Australia.

The dementia assessment tool comes as standard with the Summit 2014 Edition of Best Practice, which is now available for download from the company's website.
