MedicalDirector hosted in the cloud

Clinical and practice management software vendor MedicalDirector has launched a cloud-based managed service as an alternative to locally installed software.

Available for both MedicalDirector Clinical and PracSoft, the new MedicalDirector Online will be offered on a monthly subscription basis to existing sites as well as new practices.

“Starting a new practice is often big step with many risks to manage,” MedicalDirector CEO Phil Offer said. “Monthly based billing and no lock-in contracts help practices minimise upfront investments in the critical first year.”

In addition to hosting the software in the cloud, MedicalDirector will handle automatic updates and back-ups, which it says will provide simple integration into practices.

The concurrent subscription model features licences based on the maximum number of users on the system at one time. Mr Offer said the ability to modify subscriptions monthly means practices need only pay for what they require.

“Practice needs can change rapidly as they grow, which can’t always be foreseen initially,” he said. “We hope that by introducing more flexible options for our customers we can help alleviate some of their concerns.”

As it is cloud-based, users will be able to access MedicalDirector Online anywhere at any time, making home visits and access from multiple locations easier. MedicalDirector says all data is held in Australian data centres that are securely protected and compliant with the Privacy Act.
