Hills adds Hostel to patient infotainment portfolio

Hills Ltd has acquired patient entertainment and communications provider Hospital Telecommunications (Hostel) as part of its strategy to be the leading provider of interactive patient care solutions to hospitals and aged care facilities in Australia.

Hostel will add a further 17 hospitals and 4124 beds to Hills Health Solutions' Australian footprint, including Royal North Shore and Liverpool hospitals in NSW, Western and Frankston hospitals in Victoria and WA's Fremantle and Royal Perth.

The purchase adds to Hills' previous acquisitions of Hospital Television Rentals (HTR) and nurse call provider Merlon in 2013 and Questek in April last year.

Hills also has a licensing agreement with Irish company Lincor, which provides patient engagement technology.

“The acquisition of Hostel together with our agreement with Lincor Solutions strengthens our market offering and positions us as the leading patient entertainment, communications and education provider in Australia and New Zealand,” Hills Group CEO Ted Pretty said.

“It positions Hills with a platform to expand into other developed markets."

A Hills spokesperson said further details on the acquisition will be provided when Hills releases its half-year results.
