InterSystems launches massively scaled version of Caché

InterSystems has launched the latest version of its Caché 2015 SQL/NoSQL data platform, which it says doubles the scalability of prior releases based on independent third-party testing.

Caché, which is also used in the financial services, retail/logistics and government solutions sectors as well as healthcare, is used by US electronic medical record giant Epic Systems as the data platform for its EMR solutions.

Epic president Carl Dvorak said in a statement that the scalability and performance improvements of Caché 2015.1 were “terrific”.

“Almost doubling the scalability, this version provides a key strategic advantage for our user organisations who are pursuing large-scale medical informatics programs as well as aggressive growth strategies in preparation for the volume-to-value transformation in healthcare," Mr Dvorak said.

Caché is also used by pathology provider Sonic Healthcare to underpin its IT systems. Sonic's CIO, Peter Joseph, said the new version offered massive processing power on standard hardware.
