MedicalDirector partners with Jayex for self check-in capability

MedicalDirector has partnered with patient flow technology provider Jayex to allow patient details entered through a Jayex self check-in kiosk to automatically update the patient record in MD's PracSoft.

Jayex's self check-in kiosks are designed to be used in multi-doctor practices to allow patients to check themselves in for their appointment and free up reception staff. The kiosks currently support 51 languages.

When patients check in, they are prompted to confirm their basic contact details. Through this new integration, if the patient updates any of their details, the information is automatically updated in MedicalDirector PracSoft. The patient will then be added to the waiting room to be seen by the practitioner.

Jayex Australia CEO Rob Mantel said recent research his company has conducted showed that just over 73 per cent of patient records were either missing a piece of key contact information, or contained inaccurate contact data.

“From a patient safety and privacy perspective this presents an obvious risk which is exacerbated when practice staff are so swamped with a queue of patients, the phone ringing non-stop while processing a payment,” Mr Mantel said.

MedicalDirector CEO Phil Offer said the integration with Jayex was the first for the company's new application programming interface (API). He said that by integrating with the new API, security and patient confidentiality was ensured.

Mr Offer said check-in kiosks were highlighted by doctors in MedicalDirector's recent practice survey as a service that could deliver real help to practices by reducing waiting times and managing patient volumes.

The kiosks can also be used to capture patient surveys for accreditation purposes.
