Veil returns to take the helm at ACHI
Adjunct associate professor at the University of Western Sydney and principal at eHealth & HL7 Education Partners, Klaus Veil, has been elected president of the Australasian College of Health Informatics (ACHI).
Mr Veil was previously president of the organisation from 2009-11. He takes over from Chris Pearce, adjunct associate professor at Monash University and director of research at Inner East Melbourne Medicare Local, who has taken up the position of vice-president.
The honorary secretary is Alfred Health's director of applications and knowledge management, Chris Bain, and the honorary treasurer is Peter Williams from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Council members are St Vincent's Health chief pharmacist Andrew Cording and professor of general practice at the University of NSW Teng Liaw.
ACHI also held its 3rd eHealth Research Forum this week, hosted by the Australian Institute for Health Innovation at Macquarie University in Sydney.
The forum featured a discussion on eHealth software and patient safety, with the ACHI council agreeing to consider adding eHealth patient safety to its areas of focus.
