Brydon stands down from Sydney Children's Health Network

Sydney Children's Hospital Network CEO Michael Brydon has stood down with immediate effect amid a continuing deterioration in the relationship between medical staff at the network's two hospitals.
Dr Brydon's place will be filled in the interim by SCHN's director of clinical integration Cheryl McCullagh, who has led much of the network's digital health program.
SCHN was created in 2010 and brings together the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick, the Children's Hospital at Westmead, Bear Cottage hospice and the Newborn and paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS).
Relations between the two hospitals have broken down recently with doctors at Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick angry over the cardiac surgery program and a perceived favouring of Westmead.
Dr Brydon was appointed SCHN CEO in July 2016, following six years as its director of clinical operations. Prior to that, he worked as a paediatrician at Randwick for 27 years.
He is also heavily involved in the National Children’s Digital Health Collaborative, which is being led by eHealth NSW with the support of the Australian Digital Health Agency.
