Monash Health to pilot GP eReferral management system

Monash Health has gone to market for a GP referral management solution that it wants to pilot early next year to handle its 4100 weekly referrals.

It is looking for a system that can use Monash Health's referral guidelines to assist the GP in completing clinically appropriate referrals, directed to the appropriate specialist unit.

Interesting to see there is no consideration by Monash Health for scoping the existing market place. They have not learnt from other projects, that splintering the broader secure messaging space only creates confusion and frustration for GPs. Lets hope they look over their fence and have a chat with some primary care sites before making their final selection. Sometimes choosing the best product on-the-day is not always the best product for the sector, interoperabilit y here we come.
