Direct Control prepares Out-Of-Pocket calculator for release
Direct Control has created a web-based service to assist in the calculation of Out-Of-Pocket (OOP) expenses for patients undergoing surgery. Known as 'The OOP', the application is designed for use in all medical disciplines but will be particularly useful for anaesthetists and assistants in surgery.
Users of Direct Control can already estimate the patient’s Out-Of-Pocket expenses, the software handling the complexity of the differing protocols of each health fund. However the OOP is designed for mobile devices, including those developed by Apple or those running the Android operating system. The utility will remove the need for a healthcare professional to be connected to a desktop in order to calculate such figures.
While initially developed as a stand-alone product, the application will be enhanced to allow synchronisation with Direct Control, allowing patient details to be entered into OOP and uploaded to Direct Control.
The annual fee structure for the stand alone version of OOP is still to be decided, however existing users of Direct Control will receive discounted pricing.
The OOP is slated to be launched at the Australian Society of Anaesthetists Conference in September.
