HCN recalls latest PracSoft update

The latest update of Health Communication Network's (HCN) PracSoft practice management software has come with an unexpected bug that is affecting patient demographic data.

HCN issued an alert yesterday evening about the latest release of Medical Director and PracSoft, 3.12.1a, warning users not to install the update and to call HCN urgently if users have already done so.

HCN said a glitch in the updated software was compromising next of kin data stored in PracSoft only. Medical Director has not been affected.

“Sites that have installed 3.12.1a must contact our support desk who will assist in restoring the affected data – please call 1300 788 802,” HCN warned in an email to users.

“A new patch will be made available for download within 2-3 days.”

The latest release of Medical Director and PracSoft introduced healthcare identifiers functionality and Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) handling for discharge summaries and specialist letters, key development needing to be undertaken by GP software vendors in the lead up to the launch of the PCEHR in July this year.
