Tender looming for Auslab replacement

IT News reports that Queensland Health will soon issue a tender for the replacement of the ageing Auslab pathology system used by Pathology Queensland. It is quoting $91 million for the project, although estimates in the Queensland health strategy were for about $75m. According to that strategy, “The timing of the pathology information system replacement lends itself to an opportunity to fully integrate with the ieMR and digital hospital initiative.”

There are only a couple of players capable of providing a full LIS with billing for Australian public hospitals, the most prominent ones being Citadel Health (which bought Auslab's developer PJA Solutions last year), Cerner (which is rolling out the ieMR) and InterSystems (which has a brand spanking new laboratory information management system on the market).
