RANZCR to hold AI in healthcare summit

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) is holding a summit in Sydney in November to discuss the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in healthcare.
The Intelligence 18: AI in Healthcare Summit will debate the effect of machine learning and big data on healthcare, and will include speakers such as Imperial College London's Yves-Alexandre de Montjoye, an expert in machine learning techniques and analysing and identifying metadata trends.
Other speakers include Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering president Hugh Bradlow, artificial intelligence design and biomedical instrumentation expert Jordan Nguyen, and Australian Digital Health Agency chief medical adviser Meredith Makeham.
RANZCR President Lance Lawler said AI and machine learning are bringing a revolution to healthcare.
“Australia must be a leader in this field so we can take advantage of all the opportunities that technological change brings while ensuring that developments are in our patients’ interests,” Dr Lawler said.
“Radiologists are often at the forefront of technological development so it makes sense that we will be bringing this summit to Australia.
“However, in the future it is likely that every patient and every doctor will be touched by AI or machine learning.”
The summit is being held at Doltone House in Sydney on November 21. Registrations are now open.
