Hunt retains health ministry

Greg Hunt has been returned as head of the health ministry in the new Morrison cabinet despite having resigned last week as part of the failed attempt to install Peter Dutton as prime minister.
New Prime Minister Scott Morrison has opted to retain Mr Hunt in the position, along with Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Indigenous Health Ken Wyatt.
Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie retains her role as Minister for Rural Health and Minister for Sport.
Consumers Health Forum CEO Leanne Wells said it was “good to see” that Mr Hunt was retained “to maintain continuity on health initiatives including reviews of the Medicare Benefits Schedule, reforms to primary care and out of pocket costs, and embedding My Health Record as a key feature of a modern health care system”.
