Best heads MSIA, search under way for new CEO

MIMS CEO Robert Best was elected president of the Medical Software Industry Association (MSIA) at yesterday's annual general meeting, taking over from Extensia's Emma Hossack, who has been in the role for four years.
Joining Mr Best on the board is HealthLink's Tom Bowden, who continues as vice president, and Best Practice's Lorraine Pyefinch, who continues as secretary. The new treasurer is Craig Porte, CEO of aged, community and disability care software specialist carelink+.
Returning board members include Fred IT's general manager for eHealth David Freemantle and Cerner's Philip Loya, with allied health practice management software vendor SmartSoft's MD, Tony Taddeo, a new board member.
The MSIA also announced it plans to appoint a new CEO, with applications closing this week and being handled by The Association Specialists' executive search division. The MSIA has been without a CEO for a couple of years, being run instead by its volunteer board.
Also at the association's annual forum yesterday, long-serving pharmacy and medicines specialist John Green was named winner of the Andrew Magennis Award for services to the industry.
