Peter Mac recruits new CEO from cancer vanguard

Melbourne's Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre has appointed UK-based cancer nursing specialist Shelley Dolan as its new CEO, taking over from Dale Fisher, who left last year to head up Silver Chain.
Dr Dolan is currently chief nurse at King’s College Hospital but spent most of her career at the Royal Marsden, the specialist cancer hospital in London.
Peter Mac board chair Maxine Morand said Dr Dolan had experience in the clinical design and roll out of patient portals to facilitate increased patient and family involvement in the patient's care.
Peter Mac is currently in the planning stages for the implementation of a new Epic electronic medical record, along with Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Women's Hospital.
The three facilities will join Parkville precinct neighbour the Royal Children's Hospital in installing Epic, having been granted $124 million for the project last year.
Dr Dolan, who will begin her new role in August, was executive lead of the UK's Cancer Vanguard, an initiative that has piloted and rolled out a new model of care for cancer care. She has a Master's degree in cancer nursing and gained a PhD for her work on the the early diagnosis of sepsis in cancer patients.
