Health minister Ferguson dumped in Tasmanian government reshuffle

Tasmanian premier Will Hodgman has removed under-pressure state health minister Michael Ferguson as part of a cabinet reshuffle, appointing Sarah Courtney (pictured) in his place.
Mr Ferguson has been under fire over increasing levels of ambulance ramping at Royal Hobart Hospital. A recent summit on the health system was described by Liberal colleague Sue Hickey as an ”episode of Utopia”.
Mr Ferguson has been given the new portfolios of infrastructure, transport, state growth and small business but he retains the science and technology portfolio.
New health minister Sarah Courtney was previously primary industries minister. She had a career in finance before becoming a winemaker.
Ms Courtney will be supported by deputy Premier Jeremy Rockliff, who has been given an additional, new portfolio as minister for mental health and wellbeing. He is also in charge of sport and recreation.
