Former Royal Far West telecare chief named NPS CEO

The executive director of strategy, services and innovation, at health and disability services NGO Royal Far West (RFW) Katherine Burchfield has been appointed as the next CEO of NPS MedicineWise, beginning next month.

Ms Burchfield is taking over from adjunct associate professor Steve Morris, who is returned to South Australia to head up Arthritis SA.

Ms Burchfield has been with RFW for six years and has helped establish Australia’s largest paediatric allied health telecare program for people living in far western NSW.

Prior to that, she was director of the integrated care branch at the NSW Ministry of Health with a portfolio including integrated care reforms, aged care, primary and community care, palliative care, and disability.

NPS MedicineWise chair Andrew Knight said Ms Burchfield had a particular interest in the effective use of information and incentives to support better decisions across the health sector.
